. . . I prayed, meditated, and asked God to give me the things I wanted and the things I needed.  My experiences and lessons had become increasingly difficult. It was difficult to believe in God. . . . I was coming to understand what Papa-horse was trying to teach me about inner freedom. . . . After I had prayed and meditated, I removed the lantern from the rafter and walked toward the ladder. Papa-horse sat at the edge of the loft and puffed on his pipe. He patted the hay beside him with his gnarled fingers and said, “Come over her. Take your place next to me son. . . .
